Contacting the appropriate Business Formalities Centre (“CFE”)
The person who wants to start a business must have selected the legal form of his company in order to contact the appropriate Business Formalities Centre (“CFE”).

The appropriate Business Formalities Centre (“CFE”) for :
Non-trading companies and other companies with a non-commercial purpose
Companies with a professional activity
Economic interest groups (“GIE”) and European economic interest groups (“GEIE”)
Public commercial or industrial establishments (“EPIC”)
Associations governed by the Law of 1901 if they are issuing securities and exercising an activity for at leastTwo years

The Registrar, acting as a Business Formalities Centre (“CFE”), is responsible for transferring the compulsory declarations of legal entities or natural persons to the appropriate administrative bodies (“URSSAF” (social security), “INSEE” (office of statistics), “Centre des Impôts” (tax centre), “Caisses d’assurance maladie et de retraites” (health insurance funds or pension funds)…)

Companies with a commercial purpose that do not depend on the “Chambre des Métiers” (Guild Chamber)
The Business Formalities Centre (“CFE”) of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“CCIP”) is responsible for transferring the compulsory declarations to the appropriate administrative bodies (“URSSAF” (social security), “INSEE” (French office of statistics), “Centre des Impôts” (tax centre), “Caisses d’assurance maladie et de retraites” (health insurance funds or pension funds)…)

The registration file shall be submitted to the registrar of the Commercial Court who shall verify its legality and validate it.

Sole traders and commercial companies that exercise a craft activity (craftsmen)

Sole traders (natural persons) and companies that exercise an agricultural activity

Every natural person or legal entity exercising activities recognized as agricultural (except for maritime farming and lumbering) on a usual basis shall be registered upon their declaration at a register of agriculture, held by the Chamber of Agriculture of the district where the head office of their business is located.
The registration file shall be submitted to the registrar of the Commercial Court who shall verify its legality and validate it.
